You may be interested in some point in reading Delany's *Jewel-Hinged Jaw* if you haven't. He discusses how speculative fiction has a different relationship with words and metaphor because things can be both literal and figurative at the same time.

LRP: a good piece (I am looking forward to reading Bahr's book). Re the seemingly strange oneness of the manuscript: it's not the poet's copy, so other copies probably existed. Many ME poems survive in one copy (and few in many copies), which doesn't mean *zero* circulation, just less.
