Watched The Changeling and loved it! Peter Medak directed two episodes of the TV Show Hannibal but I didn't know much about him aside from that so it was a nice surprise

A β β β β β review of The Changeling (1980)
"You're the beneficiary of the cruelest kind of murder: murder for profit!" Genuinely one of the best horror film I've ever watched. There's George C. Scott of course, delivering, as usual, an incredible performance which knows no equal. He's rational and reserved, but displays vulnerability and kindness in such a genuine way that your heart breaks for him. Ebert is correct in saying that we never fear for his character, but I think that's the film's point and that's how Scott plays it - the ghost understands that Russell is trying to help, and Russell understands that the ghost needs

Every year for April fools I find funny fish in old books from my library and print them for students so they can put them on people's backs. I love the shiny ones I found in d'Orbigny:

Also 7S specifically could greatly improve efficiency just by actually providing the text to their translators instead of⦠having them buy it themselves. But nah something something AI

Alain Resnais's Night and Fog premiered 70 years ago: "We pretend it was all confined to one country, one point in time. We turn a blind eye to what surrounds us, and a deaf ear to the never-ending cries."

Just watched Kokuho by Lee Sang-il - simply one of the best films of the past twenty years. Unbelievably gorgeous, and beautifully written. Satoko Okudera's script shines like no other. Please go watch it if you can!

Watched The Running Man today. When Lee Pace removes his mask at the end and Glen Powell whistles I genuinely thought the twist was that the scary hunter turned out to be a beautiful man. It took me five minutes to understand Powell was mocking his facial scars.
