We're seeing possibly the worst attendance in history. Even in creative writing classes, where students generally want to participate and have their voice heard--they're not showing up, ignoring guidelines and feedback, and either describing expectations as "unclear" or simply refusing to comply.

It's been incredibly difficult to get a writing critique group going outside class time. These are people who should be champing at the bit to write and share their writing, yet they think that workshops and on-the-books work will get them published. Few of them will publish anything. No drive.

Rejecting the premise here. "AI" is not coming for your job. Companies are dumping people because they are putting more money into AI investment, not because there is labor replacement via productivity. Even in the Amazon announcement, Jassy backed away from the framing that AI took those 14k jobs.
