What can we do about it? Wealth tax are growing in popularity, eg in the UK, France and through a G20 plan for a minimum wealth tax on billionaires. We argue that a wealth tax would do little to reduce inequality-related emissions but would be a valuable source of revenue for decarbonisation.

A more effective way of reducing inequality-related emissions would be to directly regulate carbon intensive consumption like private jets and limit the political influence of elites. Free eprint link: www.tandfonline.com/eprint/WMBDY... @icta-uab.bsky.social

The position of "agrowth" – ignoring and hence be indifferent about GDP dynamics – can help to depolarize and moderate such "culture wars". As opposed, unconditional pro- and anti-growth positions undercut – in different ways – political support for necessary climate policies.

Agreed with Edenhofer that the #ParisAgreement falls short of stopping climate change. Fundamental reason: it did not solve freeriding by countries on the climate. A gradually expanding climate club of ambitious countries, with a harmonized policy, offers indeed the best chance to jump forward.

Funny finding: comparing outcomes of a global expert survey on climate policy with answers by #ChatGPT, we found the #AI chatbot performs quite well.
