If it was all they said it was, they wouldn't need to try and convince you. Instead, they'd be joyously talking about their favourite AI generated movies, their favourite 100% vibe coded game, the amazing book they read from some self-published prompter. Thing is, THEY don't believe it either!

Pretending otherwise? It's all about wearing down your resistance so you'll stop pushing back, because the pushback IS WORKING! If any of this garbage was any good, if there was any merit to it, the AI proponents wouldn't need to tell you it's here forever, just get used to it, and stop resisting...

I'm not gonna pretend it'll be easy, I have often likened AI to digital asbestos or microplastics. AI has been poisoning stock image libraries, game asset libraries can often contain undisclosed AI, and that shit can seep into games unbeknownst. It's a contaminant. But it can be weeded out.

Which is fantastic on its own merits, and it should be applauded, but it goes towards the point that no, the AI wasn't there to stay. Loads of other examples out there, but any developer worth their salt can just get rid of it. There's nothing permanent about any aspect of the slop machines.

Two things about this argument. Firstly, AI proponents are desperately trying to wear down your resolve any way they can, and they wouldn't be so keen to tell you it's inevitable if they weren't terrified of the push back. Secondly, all AI slop can be expunged given the time, effort, and drive.

I hate Ai being used at any point of a production but I cannot understand why people think it sounds better to say that you only used it at the early stages of pre-production. That's the fun bit!! The ideas bit!! The creative bit!! The bit that makes your story YOURS.

It's pretty simple... If you use AI to create art, then you're not an artist. If you use AI to write, then you're not a writer. If you use AI to make music, then you're not a musician. If you use AI to animate, then you're not an animator. If you use AI to make films, then you're not a filmmaker.

I'm sorry if our side of the experience has largely been people breaking our legs and stealing our TV then telling us we're overreacting. We can talk about nuanced application in the world but I don't know why people keep acting like I owe them my enthusiasm
