IDK how many more breaks I can spend with my family. Good news: whatever it is, it’s not COVID, and it seems to be tapering off

Hung out with a handful of my friends last night, some of whom I haven’t seen in ages. Had a blast. Fast forward to today, and I feel like *death* the whole day: dehydrated, coughing up a lung, lethargic, etc. That’s what I get for trying to have a social life, I guess 🙃

easy to feel demoralised seeing all these game company CEOs talking about genAI but remember a bunch of rich people will lose a lot if we don’t suddenly develop an unquenchable appetite for slop so they’re actually the ones on the back foot and have every incentive to lie about everything

Its so funny seeing companies go "oh we use GenAI for ideas when we're stumped!" You know what I do for inspiration? Read a manga, play a game, watch a movie, go outside and peoplewatch, etc There's so many things I CAN do for inspiration instead of asking ChudGPT to generate ideas for me

i understand that these corporations are beloved by many, but as soon as you start defending their use of AI, even if it's "a little bit", i need you to understand that you are being used as a corporate tool to normalize AI. reject it with all your might. corporations arent your friend.

"we USE ai, but our game wont CONTAIN it" is a clarification that no one has ever cared about & now CEOs are using it as a wedge to get their foot in the door as a part of a long term plan into normalizing AI, just like how 'it's just placeholder' was used with E33. dont cede even an inch of ground

The thing thats so insidious about using AI this way is that one of the main ways artists get hired are studios looking for art references and they find us and reach out. This is removing a major avenue to get work if they can just generate nameless derivations of our ideas.

Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.
