Beware of harvesting your fields on a hot day. Lady Midday will emerge from whirling dust clouds in the form of an old hag, a lovely woman, or a young girl, carrying a scythe. If you can't answer her riddles, she'll kill you by beheading or heat stroke.

The first known use of singular “they” is so old that not only does it pre-date singular “you,” it wasn’t even spelled with a “th” When William and the Werewolf, in 1375 CE, used singular “they,” it was spelled with a Thorn

Life is short. Write that novel. Paint that painting. Try new recipes. Learn black magic. Go into the forest at night. Summon a demon. Earn that demon's trust. Become best friends with it. Brag to everyone else about your new cool demon best friend. Knit that sweater.

This is still my advice: Become a writer anyway. Fuck it, do it, it won't save you, but it's still a beautiful dream to write novels and short stories and poems and mingle with other dreamers and make art and laugh in the face of death. And writing is constant death. Live más.

Many commentators say that vigilante groups are never the answer. But they clearly don't know about the masked Ecuadorian trio named “Acción Ortográfica Quito,” who roam the streets at night with a singular purpose: to correct all the spelling and grammar mistakes they find in graffiti.

New story day! I'm pleased to present my

debut! This story began as a spinoff of my PhD dissertation, right when I started to veer toward translation studies. It's been very hard to balance my academic & creative sides, but here, I felt for the first time like I did it. 🥹
