Repeating this here but, Can you please stop shooting yourself in the foot and actually ask what your users want? It is EXHAUSTING having to mount this kind of pushback every other month just to keep you from making terrible decisions.

The site and the people who operate it deserve a -lot- of flak for some of their decisions but this is twice now that they've (relatively) quickly reversed stuff people have overwhelmingly complained about.

PSA: Bluesky's new auto-tagging moderation stuff is a disaster. Disable it. Go into Settings on the Bluesky site and enable adult content and set everything to Warn at most, which makes posts opt-in. Hide just vanishes posts. Then go into Advanced/Bluesky Mod Service and do the same on everything.

I'll say what Bluesky fails to address in v1.122 They've rolled out a new "adult content" tag applied on an entire account, hiding all their posts from users, including text posts, even if they may be SFW This update, while well-intentioned, defeats the whole purpose of the content filters system

Please set your adult content moderation to warn. The auto mod frequently misidentified adult content, appeals are often ignored or denied. If my entire account is labeled adult because I post artistic nudity and your moderation is set to hide you will not be able to see anything from my account

Just like the Bsky team loves to manually label people who criticize them as rude to hide them from sight, I am sure they are going to treat the ability to label entire accounts as 'adult content' as an excuse to hide entire swathes of the site that upsets them, the auto-mods, and investors.

I highly recommend everyone send an email to Bluesky Moderation to reconsider rolling out this label out or at the very least tweaking it to add the two suggestions I provided above. @henrick.thebull.app has an example of what he sent to them on his account moderation@/blueskyweb.xyz

Reposting, because I'm not seeing a lot of non-NSFW artists talking about this and I'm starting to see the accounts go down If you want to see NSFW Art specifically-- remember to set your "Sexually Suggestive (cartoon)" setting to warn/show It's a totally different setting to the other NSFW labels

Overall, the problem is still "go yell at stripe and every other payment processor up the chain" but just weird to see folks hyped up like they totally unbanned NSFW as a whole. It's just the weird shit that they tacked on recently.

They aren't walking back their stance on NSFW, they're only walking back the restrictions on "implied" or "artistic" nudity/nsfw. Pornography is still outright banned, which means KS is still a no go for most NSFW projects.

Please remember, the future is not set in stone. We can turn things around, but it takes effort. Contact your reps, get involved in local orgs, do what you can.

It appears we ended up with 962 (!!!) Opposed witness slips regarding HB5511 which would require all operating systems to have a baked-in age attestation that can be fed to apps and websites, which is an awful idea and a technical implementation nightmare.
