Centrism is not less biased or more politically neutral; it is a stance on a political spectrum, as biased/biasing as any other. Neutrality, silence, and inaction are not being apolitical. They are particular kinds of political stances that to some degree favor the current status quo.

The other big story behind Mamdani's nomination, for me, is how great ranked-choice voting is. When people can vote for who they want, rather than trying to play strategic-voting 4-D chess, look how different the outcomes are.

There’s a reason that the very day the GOP was introducing a bill that would *ban states from making laws related to AI* the AI execs themselves were in Saudi Arabia with Trump, minting billion dollar deals. AI has become an oligarchic project — and democracy an impediment.

This week, the GOP slid an amendment into the budget reconciliation process that would ban US states from enacting laws that govern AI. This of course was not an aberration—it’s the direct result of Silicon Valley lobbying efforts, and big tech’s union with Trump and the Republican Party.
