As long as Iāve written for Pitchfork (six years!) Iāve wanted to dive into the enigma known as Twenty One Pilots. Meeting this band on their terms is like the final boss of poptimism, and I believe I was up to the task

My cityās LGBTQ+ center may have to shut down after it lost federal funding. I couldnāt afford to donate much, but i guess I have a few followers here, so i figure I can at least help by spreading the word. If this resonates with you, please consider donating.

Published my first Substack post, which hopefully won't my last. Free for now, until I figure this stuff out. 2500-or-so words about two presidents, national nightmares, unemployment and welfare lines, inflation and gas shortages, power ballads and quiet storms, and my 150 favorite albums of 1975.

A treat to read! Of course, my own HOTTEST CHIP playlist is a stronger and more expansive survey of their strengths, but also purposely excludes their debut. Not a coincidence!

RIP Graham Greene. Every time he popped up on screen when I was a kid, my mom would excitedly point him out for being an actual Native on the screen. Able to be deadly serious and infinitely hilarious (even in smaller roles like Last of Us), he ate up the screen. NŹkiāwah brother.

A Labor Day reminder: today there isn't a single city, metro area, or state in the U.S. where a full-time minimum-wage worker can afford a modest 2-bedroom apartment. Millions of people with jobsāeven multiple jobsāaren't safe from homelessness in this country.
