The terror attack in Boulder is horrifying. And it’s only further unsettling to the Jewish community, already reeling after the recent murders in Washington, D.C. We have to stand together and speak out against this antisemitism and all hate-driven violence right now.

On this and every Memorial Day, I think of my grandparents, Robert and Lavergne, who served bravely in WWII to fend off fascism and defend democracy. We remember all those who have sacrificed for our country, and honor their memories by fiercely protecting our freedoms.

I’ve fought to protect and expand Medicaid in Illinois because I know how important affordable healthcare is for low income kids and families. The GOP tax bill will rip that critical care away while gutting food assistance and green energy — all to cut taxes for the wealthiest. Disgraceful.

With chaos coming out of the White House, we in Springfield are focused on protecting health care, workers’ rights and constitutional rights. The Chicago Bears and their billionaire owners’ stadium is not at the top of the list.

It seems like it was just yesterday that a fake newspaper said Illinois ending cash bail was gonna be the end of days. Now, unlike the reply guy detractors, I understand crime is complex especially within racial and economically segregated communities.
