Even Democratic Party chair Ken Martin is trashing this vote: “As this vote moves to the House, I stand with Democratic leadership as they refuse to rubber stamp the full-scale Republican assault on Americans’ health care and I am proud of the majority of Senate Democrats who opposed this vote."

Some Dems fuming about this deal. Sen. Tammy Duckworth: “I simply cannot, and I will not, vote to do nothing to help protect [ppl who rely on ACA] from Trump’s vindictive and malicious efforts in exchange for a vague promise from the least trustworthy Republican party in our nation’s history."

EIGHT Senate Democrats have voted to advance the funding measure so far after the deal was reached: Cortez Masto Durbin Fetterman Hassan Kaine King Rosen Shaheen If the existing 52 Republicans hold, that's 60 — enough to advance this agreement. Final vote still to come.

One point worth emphasizing here: The punditry has been saying Sherrill (and Spanberger) represent the sane centrist wing of the party versus the left. Well, okay, but here Sherrill is urging more fight. Again, the results show that anti-Trump + affordability can *unite* the party. This shows how.

With Fetterman, this gets the deal done.

Jacky Rosen votes YES to advance this funding deal. Dem flip; she voted against the previous 14 motions on the CR.

Durbin is a YES on this deal: “At Democrats’ urging, today’s bill is not the same one we’ve voted down 14 times. Republicans finally woke up and realized their Groundhog Day needed to end. This bill is not perfect, but it takes important steps to reduce their shutdown’s hurt.”

The was a Republican shutdown because the GOP wouldn't negotiate — and Dems made that about their unwillingness to negotiate on extending the ACA subsidies. If Dems vote for this, the answer to the "why did you do it for the past 40 days?" question becomes very difficult to answer.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but you do not keep the government shut for more than a month and then NOT get a deal on the main item you have been messaging on without completely shifting the blame dynamic.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.

One of the talking points I keep seeing from Democrats is that part of the deal is that it will "ensure federal workers receive back pay" but that's the existing law! That's not something you've won in negotiations. That's just the letter of the law. You don't get to claim that as a win.
