muted words also apply to alt text. maybe someone with PTSD doesn’t want to see images of protesters who’ve been shot in the face with projectiles. if you add alt text or otherwise describe the image, then that prevents triggering someone.

“there’s a time and place for alt text” yeah it’s called “on every image, if you’re physically capable of it.” because otherwise screenreaders just read out the word “image” and the person who may not have any vision at all then has to guess what relevance it might have to the text of the post.

yesterday was terrible. why? I advocated for myself. advocating for myself is so so so hard. growing up, I was (verbally) beaten down or dismissed into silence, by those who should've protected me. advocating for myself was useless, and it was safer to not try - and produced the same result.
