Soooo, to state the obvious …. a “Court” that says that it’s okay to consider race for bad things (stop and frisks, arrests, etc.) but that it’s not okay to consider race for good things (college admissions, voting rights, etc.) isn’t really doing law. The republican justices are MAGA in robes.

I am a former DC elected official (retired in December) at the local level who chaired my public safety committee through the pandemic crime spike and subsequent decline. I was briefed on every violent crime in my neighborhood for almost four years. Not a single reporter has reached out to me.

Taking photos and video of law enforcement officers performing their duties in public is our constitutional right. This includes police, FBI, National Guard troops, ICE agents, and other government officials.

Police have set up a checkpoint and appear to be stopping every single car on 14th st NW, between W+V, here in northwest DC. Some cars are being pulled over after being stopped. Some police are wearing “HSI police” vests (Homeland Security Investigations)

If Trump can do this to DC, then a future Dem president can send troops to lock down your suburb or small town on any pretense. Republicans are opening a door that does not lead to a good place.
