Never mind memory and storage, computing itself has become absurdly cheap. Disposable vapes contain CPUs that are comparable in power to the PC and Mac CPUs of the 90s.

I suppose Bacon is right about Platner withdrawing being a bad idea. But FFS, this isn't a centrist-vs-leftists thing. This is about the dude's character. In any case, a prerequisite to him winning in November is him growing the fuck up. Don't coddle him.

Sigh. Now we have to hope that (a) Maine voters will overlook all his problematic behavior AND (b) he doesn't turn out to be another Fetterman. I'm not optimistic about either one.

If sexual abuse was really considered a terrible thing, the world's richest and most powerful people wouldn't be abusers. The most valued technology wouldn't produce sexual abuse on demand. And allegations of abuse wouldn't be framed as positive depictions of masculinity. Our culture rewards abuse.

None of us has to like this state of affairs, but it is where we're at right now as a country, and wasting your time and energy addressing election denialism to conservatives actually obscures the core issue that these people don't think we're all entitled to participate in democracy

Not that we need more evidence of genocidal intent to recognise what we are seeing. But deliberately shooting children? That's about as clear as it gets.

The US has been writing Israel a moral blank check for decades, and the Israeli Right cannot imagine that ever changing. It's not just Bibi — there's huge block of Blood and Soil Zionists who have no moral boundaries. I hate to imagine what will happen to Israel when the US finally pulls the plug.

This makes me think of Anthony Trollope's only science fiction novel The Fixed Period, written in 1882 and set in 1980. Of course he gets absolutely nothing right (cricket is played with a "steam bowler"), but it's a fun read.

We all think this was great: A reporter finally pushing back. Trump flailing and quitting. A clear picture of a corrupt and weak leader for all to see. But if you watch to the end, it's clear Welker viewed it as a failure because she angered her subject, may lose access and embarrassed the network.

TV miniseries about the live of Robert Smalls. There's a lot of story to tell: his life as an enslaved maritime worker, the plot to steal the CSS Planter and use it sail the crew and their families to freedom, his service to the Union navy, his role as a community leader 1/

I see some Platner defenders saying his critics are “centrists afraid of his leftism,” & others saying critics are “lefties applying a purity test.” There are no doubt some of both. There are also those of us who just think he’s a dishonest creep with no evidence of solid convictions.

Part of Platner’s defense is that nobody confronted him about his tattoo. That is at so weird because at most weddings people just line up to pick a fight with the big shirtless drunk man with a Nazi tattoo who likes to talk about his guns and killing people.
