Two things to learn from this. 1. The rightwing newspapers are lobby groups whose purpose is to advance the class interest of their proprietors. 2. Lobbyists for the rich and powerful lose their jobs if they are not prepared to lie.

The Ed Miliband hate-fest in the UK press continued last year. Predominantly right-wing newspapers published an incredible 112 editorials attacking the energy secretary. That's two editorials a week, and more than twice as many as 2024, calling him a "crazed" "zealot" suffering with “eco insanity”

Truly wild that the Sun, Daily Mail, Daily Express & Daily Telegraph all covered false claims that net-zero will "cost" £7.6bn – or even £9tn – which assumes we could have free gas, free petrol, free petrol cars & free gas power plants if we scrapped net-zero More here:

First draft negotiating texts for the “dialogue” on Article 2.1c have dropped at COP30. This concerns making all “financial flows” consistent with global climate goals. There are two "options", reflecting a key divergence in the negotiations so far: Whether or not to continue discussing 2.1c.
