Just noting the way the media is putting pressure on the energy sec to approve new fossil fuel licences by saying "Miliband expected to approve Jackdaw" and in the body of the article admitting a decision hasn't been made. "Miliband hesitating to approve Jackdaw" could easily work too. And yet

Fossil fuels suffer from this little thing known as intermittency. You have to build a whole back-up energy system for when the little boats get stuck. Not many people know this.

This is a good, nuanced take. The Iran crisis will ultimately accelerate the transition to clean energy. But the short to medium term is going to be very painful, and the macroeconomic hit countries will take will make clean energy projects harder to finance. Ambition must replace business as usual.

In recent years I've tried to donate directly to trans people's transition funds. Something worth considering if you can afford it ❤️

Nice Chinese breakthrough for me this eve. Was at a Chinese restaurant with my Chinese classmates and said 再见谢谢 to the waiter as I was leaving and didn't think about it.
