A 4% pay uplift, less than current inflation, is an insult to doctors in England. This Government has shown it simply doesn’t value doctors. “The DDRB has failed doctors. If this is the best they can do, government needs to think again” says

Got any great final year students who love the bench but don't (yet) want to do a PhD? I'm looking for a research technician to join our amazing AVERT team for the last 2 years of the project - a great chance to develop lab skills while supporting our team in York.

Transcription stress causes an inflammatory response via release of IL-1α
Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, Published online: 11 April 2025; doi:10.1038/s41594-025-01525-5DNA damage can be sensed as a danger signal by the innate immune system. Bournique et al. show that the transcription stress caused by DNA lesions can also initiate inflammation by causing the direct release of cytokine IL-1α, which then drives NF-κB activation in neighboring cells.

we find that IFI16 binds to stalled replication forks where it acts as innate immune sensor for replication stress, and protects the nascent DNA from degradation. 👇👇
