And I have to add this: As someone who destroyed his own mental and financial health during Trump 1.0 doing a high volume of detained pro bono work, I have to firmly request that community advocates please try not to guilt people who already want to work for free into making the same mistake

Please also remember that asking an experienced immigration lawyer to take your case pro bono is not just asking that person to do months of hard & emotionally draining labor for free but to vVoluntarily lose thousands of dollars in staff time & much more in opportunity cost. Here's something I always forget that most people don't know: finding & paying for your own attorney is the only realistic option for someone detained by ICE. There's no appointed counsel system, & limited non-profits who can only take a few at a time (if at all). These cases are a *lot of work*

Two trials will be repeated endlessly despite always producing the same results: 1) Does UBI work? (yes) 2) Does AI improve productivity? (no)
