What on earth is happening to Radio 4 Today programme? On a day hardly short of world-shattering news, an endless segment of Emma Barnett giggling about Meghan Markle’s cookery show. A bit of feelgood might seem needed, but this was completely tacky.

I so hope for this, too. When elected he cannot have predicted what he would face, but if any leader has stepped up, this is the man.
