Assumes those around him would know what a complete picture is. Everything after day one is predictable and a second-year undergraduate would know. Our seniors would recognize the consequences of day one on day one.

Weird how the Lost Cause mythology acts as history. Wonder why that is? Dear reader, I do not wonder. It is because white supremacy advocates spent more than a century shilling it as âwhat actually happened.â

Honestly, Donald Trump is probably more racist than George Wallace ever was. Wallace was an opportunist who embraced racist politics because it played well with his electorate. Trump is a true believer in racism who keeps saying racist things despite the political blowback.

I spent two years in graduate school focused on metacognition, by the way. Itâs an interest. And yeah thereâs no mechanism for it in these platformed lessons and assignments. A smart teacher *can* augment but they need time and support. Two things we donât encourage. We are ruining the kids.

The most famous line from Lincoln's second inaugural address is also probably the most misunderstood: "with malice toward none, with charity for all." I'm a fan of Frederick Douglass's gloss on it.

I have thought about MLKâs challenge to Johnsonâs *war on poverty* while mobilizing for actual war. King consistently noted that every dollar spent on S Vietnam was more than a dollar lost in the war against poverty. He was correct. No one bothers with poverty today so this math will be far worse.

I did not share the original story because my gut was that the sourcing was dubious. Someone who knows more about the sole source confirms that skepticism. Don't fall for clickbait, read the piece linked below. (If the story is confirmed by other outlets, that's another thing. But ... it's not)

Lenten reflection: waging war is an act of empire not of following Christ. In the midst of Ramadan and on Sabbath, waging war means the holy in life is made profane. We much look for and act out of what is holy in the days ahead. Holy One, have mercy.

Remember: Donald Trump created this crisis. He walked away from the Iran nuclear deal that was working, promising a "better deal." He didn't deliver. He escalated, abandoned real diplomacy, and has now led us into a conflict that puts us all at risk.

We genuinely need a revival of virtue in the United States. In my view, thatâs almost as critical a project as any other structural reform project necessary in the wake of trumpism. We should become a society that actually values human life such that we would feel shame about this.
