Easter comes after the painful and holy and hard metamorphosis of what was before. But when it comes, it changes everything. Everyone is fed. Everyone is housed. Everyone is free.

I joined the LA catholic worker in the seven stations of the cross in front of the Federal Building downtown to speak against the attacks on human dignity.

Across faiths, during this holy season, we are gathering in our own traditions to stand against the powers that be that are hurting our brothers, our sisters, and kin. No matter our faith, no matter our background, we keep us safe and we hold faith for our collective future ahead.

Last year our city’s budget for the LAPD was $1,980,000,000.00. I know how we can immediately knock that down to $1,979,550,000.00. It’s time Los Angeles found a new police chief.

As someone who supports more Rae Huang, I honest to God hope the top 2 will be Nithya Raman & Rae Huang. Together, they can shut out Karen Bass from November, and we'll have 2 pro-transit candidates no matter who wins (and hopefully, we'll get more transit promises during their campaigns/debates).

Last night I was with Angelenos as the LAPD detained Angelenos peacefully protesting outside the Metropolitan Detention Center, calling to abolish ICE and to support detainees and their families as part of the No Kings day of demonstration.

For months now, LAPD has been kettling protestors, including teenagers. I join the chorus of supporters demanding the city drop all charges against our Angelenos who were practicing their freedom and right to protest and speech.

It's time we hold real accountability of our LAPD to serve and protect us, and not treat Angelenos as criminals.

The reason Angelenos are organizing rapid response networks and protesting is because the city has failed to protect and serve Angelenos over and over again—in fact, they continue to actively perpetrate harm on us as we saw last night. It's time the city does its job and acts like a sanctuary city.

Words are not enough. Put your money and action where you mouth is. Fund Represent LA, fire Police Chief McDonnell, fund community rapid response and mutual aid efforts, and end all ICE and LAPD collaboration now!
