atproto defines that the PDS is the canonical source of data. you can make an app that *interoperates with* atproto by writing to a user's PDS in parallel with writing to your database. but you make an *atproto app* by making the client write to the PDS and listening to the relay for the records.

we should rename AT Protocol to read-after-write protocol who cares about authenticating your transfer when you can read after your write

ex. you upload a wasm blob and send a `atproto-middleware: bafk.........` header. service proxying happens as usual but the wasm blob can augment the response with queries from the PDS
