“Correcting a false belief is not like correcting a math error. It requires something closer to what clinicians call grief work. The person must let go of a version of reality that has been sustaining them…” That’s one doozy of an asymmetry! “Make stuff up” vs basically “extended complex therapy”?

Doctors say that cyclospora can cause explosive diarrhea. A guy who snorts cocaine off toilet seats and brings raccoon penises home for "further study" says that cyclospora cures autism. For busy parents, it can be hard to know who to trust.

For any authors who find themselves stressing about bad reviews, I have a recommendation. Look up reviews for a book that you consider to be a beloved classic. Notice that at least one person (probably many people) loathed that book and wrote several paragraphs explaining why, in great detail.

I ran an absolutely 100% human, zero AI-involvement at any stage passage of my writing through an "AI detector," curious if it could really tell human from AI work, and it said my own writing was "84% AI written" then asked I wanted to pay to have it "humanized." So there's that to keep in mind.

Certain parts of the Detroit suburbs are notorious for power outages--tons of trees, old, above-ground infrastructure I suppose. For some reason, our street has never been too bad--few outages, and always very brief. Until last night.

GOOD NEWS! A personalized mRNA vaccine, known as mRNA-4157, has shown promise in keeping melanoma, a deadly skin cancer, from returning. FIVE years later, NEARLY 70% of people in the vaccine group are CANCER-FREE. The vaccine also cut a person’s risk of the cancer metastasizing by NEARLY 60%.

If the vaccine is effective in a late-stage trial, it would be “paradigm-shifting,” one expert said.

Here is work showing some of this effect. It is important, however, to see the form that this takes ‘in the wild’ in terms of the erasure of actual women-led scholarship in LLMs by multiple modalities, so I intend to run some bibliometrics myself and put the results out.

Vance just admitted we are paying Iran $300 BILLION in reparations. After losing the First World War, Germany paid US$5 billion (22 billion gold marks) in contemporary currency. Adjusted for inflation, that was still only around $90-95 billion in today's dollars.
