Just to be clear, the continued instability at Canada Post is due to their management's decision not to negotiate fairly for over 21 months. They demanded a forced vote bypassing the union. They've gone to the MP in charge to reduce our service. No movement from them after years.

Canada Post “lost” 1 billion dollars last year? How about, “it cost Canadians 1 billion dollars to have a national postal service” which works out to costing about $25 a year per person (population of Canada in 2024 = 40 million). Seems like a pretty reasonable cost to me.

Imagine a Canada Post where the people in charge wanted it to grow, instead of whatever they've done the last five years. Canadians want to buy Canadian! Why doesn't Canada Post mgmt want a piece of that? I have no idea who is benefiting from these choices!

Let's talk about CUPW's flyer ban/job action. Conservatively flyers make up 30 percent of Canada Post's business. So many people dislike them, but they are expensive to order. Since many businesses do order them time and time again, we have to assume that they're worth the cost in some way.

Went to the second-hand store for pants and returned with a very nice copy of Ray's 'Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music' which might be the best record ever pressed in London, Ontario. Complete with original inner liner, which bragged about how it was made here. Catnip for a nerd like me.

Every worker deserves to make enough to support their families. As a CUPW member, I bring in *plenty* of value for Canada Post. I know what the products I deliver cost, and I deliver 4-5x what I'm paid, even in the summer when it's the slowest.

We're only 20 episodes in, but I have been watching One Piece with my 9yo, and it's the perfect show to watch with a young person. It's got silly action, pirate stuff, and deep stories. The storyline with Usapp had so much to discuss re: doing right by people and being accountable to yrself.

What is going on at Canada Post? Thanks to the folks at Kingston local for this infographic. TL:DR Canada Post management has spent a lot on infrastructure over the past five years and invested deeply in Purolator. CUPW members wages have not kept up with inflation over the last 5 years.

If you're going to report this, may as well also mention how Purolator is doing. Y'know, the fully-owned subsidiary of Canada Post. Who have been making bank off the volume we delivered before.
