IDK if publishers following me that are looking for some tipps for games to bring to Europe/US, but National Economy is a sleeper hit. There will be a new version in Essen,but TMK its again sold only in Asia. (I have no affiliation with publsiher or designer, just think that game is worth pushing)

Hey #boardgamesky! I'm looking for examples of /weird/ board games. Games that do something you don't expect games to do, whether theme, mechanic, player experience/emotion, or other surprises. Bonus points for being cheap, recent and/or quick to play, but none of these are essential.

Successful board games have a problem…Most end up with tons of expansions and additional content. Making them pretty intimidating for newbies. I wish more of such games would release slimmed down ‘essential’ editions.

The only video games I play these days are digital versions of board games. So both answers are the same :)

Boardgames because I have a computer dedicated to video games and I find myself writing in my boardgame blog (or doing BGA or whatever) more often than I turn that computer on.

Video games. It's too difficult finding people to play the board games I like with me.

So given that I'm playing BoardGameArena right now with live chat, and it's good enough for me if I have to choose, I'll pick video games (as board game arena is a video game!)

Board games for sure. I've just bounced off video games in a big way over the last year. I'm due for a replay of Kentucky Route Zero but push come to shove, I'd sacrifice it.

Was listening to an American kids podcast today with my 6 year old and one of the characters was called 'Mingy'. There is a British voice actor in the series too, so I'm surprised he didn't flag it!

The next batch of New Mill preorders are set to launch a week from tomorrow. It feels so soon after I sent out the July preorders, but that was because I delayed a month due to those pesky tariff issues. However, for scheduling reasons, I need to still launch Oct. 1. So...get hyped!

A cynical view? Probably yes, but one that’s been arrived at through trial and error.

I try to use principles to guide me in life, you can even go back to the ten commandments if you like. For example: - All human life has value, everyone (even criminals) have inalienable human rights. - Also we should respect freedom of expression- including political expression.

The board game hobby isn’t some intersectional, progressive solidarity movement or left wing party. It’s made up of people from dramatically different backgrounds who primarily love cardboard games. Of course that doesn’t mean we can’t hold the hobby to minimum standards of respect.

Most people in the board game hobby probably don’t care about your politics nor do you likely care about theirs. A big reason I wanted to keep this account as apolitical as possible. I haven’t succeeded 100% but there is some merit to trying to create apolitical shelters in our lives.

I have been a Magical Athlete believer since the English edition came out in 2010, and it has been really gratifying to see everyone come around on the game now. It's always fun to see a game that simmered at "cult" status for a long time finally have its moment.

I honestly just can't take you or your content channel seriously on political activism, or the quest for human rights/justice, if you are happy to stretch beyond the content/design of a game to criticise its designers/publishers BUT you have completely ignored Gaza for the past 2 years.

For those of us who've been screaming about Gaza for the past 2 years, many pushed back by saying it wasn't relevant to board games because the issue wasn't related to a specific game or its content. But then we could apply that to the recent boycott of CGE because of the Harry Potter author.
