Terra cimmeria TM board today. Game play was fairly slow as it look a long time to place all the ocean tiles. M had a lot more in game score but A had a lot of cities with greenery round them, winning by 5 points. #boardgames #terraformingmars

Amazingly our game of Cartographers was a draw! We were invaded by insectiods, flayed and the frost giants advanced. The volcano was very active causing a huge lava flow. Defiantly our current favourite flip and write. #boardgames #cartographers

M decided they wanted a game of Llamaland. Whilst A enjoys the game they find shapes quite challenging. Fun was had as we made landscapes and grew plants to feed our llamas. Putting down scoring tokens before the end of the game adds some focus. #boardgames #llamaland

Sorcerer City. We found the Dark Mage and the Giant quite irritating (the whole point of the monsters!). The game was quite close A only winning by 6 points. We use the app for the timer, but today we tried out the sand timer to find it was 7 seconds faster! #boardgames #sorcerercity

We dusted off Oltreé today. It didn’t go well, we struggled to keep trouble cards out of the Satrapy. Unlucky dice rolls didn’t help either. We managed to just get a minor victory. #boardgames #oltree

Another game of Creature Caravan. A had incentive to fight at least 4 Ember zombies, whilst M had the card which meant no zombies were collected. Despite getting to the city M lost, it’s good to know that travelling isn’t the only route to victory. #boardgames #creaturecaravan

After sitting on the shelf of opportunity for over a year we finally played Subterra 2. We lost badly by splitting up our adventures. We should have known better having played the original Subterra many times! Despite our failure we enjoyed the game. #boardgames #subterra2

We don’t play Underwater Cities very often. This week M started a 3 player game on Yucata and we played the cardboard version. This game only took about an hour and 10 minutes, M won by a fairly large margin. #boardgames #underwatercities

We are really enjoying Sail. In this game we managed to sail quite quickly to our destination. Putting cards in the kraken deck is just as important as moving. #boardgames #sail

Life of the Amazonia was dusted off. We are currently unsure if this is a keeper. We like the theme and enjoy bag building but M is so much better and more efficient than A. Whilst winning isn’t everything knowing you’ve lost so early on isn’t fun. #boardgames #amazonia

A couple of quick games before bed. District Noir a push your luck two player game, we both gained a victory each. We followed this by a very old favourite Port Royal. M won 13 points to A’s 12, it reminded us to try the co op version again. #boardgames #districtnoir

In The Footsteps of Darwin with expansion. M was initially a little reluctant to buy the expansion thinking it would detract from the simplicity. We both now agree that for us it adds more interest by adding a few goals and the opportunity to get more animals. #boardgames #footstepsofDarwin

We’ve played It’s a wonderful world over 80 times. Most of those games have been with our copy and the corruption expansion. The BGA implementation is the base game only but we still enjoy playing it turn based with a friend. M won this game by a fair margin. #boardgames #itsawonderfulworld

A quick couple of games of Caracas. Despite having managed to collect a lot of monkeys in one game and unusual animals in another, A lost both games. Too many mistakes were made (rivers that don’t connect to other rivers). A fun tile laying game similar to Cascadia. #boardgames #caracas

Wingspan was our Saturday afternoon choice of game. A placed two raptors that needed mice or cards which was unusual. M won by having scored more points on bonus cards. #boardgames #wingspan

We decided to start playing through the LOTR Adventure Book again. Each episode takes about fifteen minutes, we did the first two. A great co op, very thematic and highly replayable. #boardgames #lotradventurebook

A couple of quick games of River Valley Glassworks before a busy evening. A won both games by a few points. We noticed on the player boards there is a spelling error, oops! Never mind it won’t spoil our fun! #boardgames #rivervalleyglassworks

After an intense morning we decided on a quiet game. Hadrians Wall is multi player solitaire, the perfect choice. We took different routes, M built more buildings and had a few gladiator bouts. A just decided to do tracks. The winner had two extra points. #boardgames #hadrianswall

Into the Wild with Aeon’s End. We have started using the expedition mode of The New Age, today we fought Rageborne. It was tough as the nemesis deck turned over a lot of minions, both our mages and Gravehold were very low on health by the end. #boardgames #thenewage

No photo as we played on BGA - this week we tried out Ink. We first played with three which was harder because there was more competition for the personal ink colours. With two it was easier as we collected different colours. Very abstract with no theme but enjoyable. #boardgames #ink

Another play of Knitting Circle. At first we thought this was a miss for us as it seemed more involved than Calico. However after 3 plays we’ve decided it’s about the same level of brain burning complexity just with yarn instead of fabric. #boardgames #knittingcircle

Episode 4 of Legacy Of Flame. In this game we did really well, hooray for our brave firefighters. Boo however to the huge amount of scratching of cards and stickers. #boardgames #legacyofflame

Get On Board - New York and London. A mix of flip and write with a shared board to put down the bus route. There is a good amount of interaction even in a two player game. M won this game by 10 points by getting both the shared goals. A quick fun filler. #boardgames #getonboard

A high scoring game of Creature Caravan. We both managed to get to Eastrey fairly easily with the aid of various machines and creatures. M won by defeating a lot of zombies and having points on cards. A game we enjoy in the evening as it only takes 45 minutes. #boardgames #creaturecaravan

Our second play of Knitting Circle. Getting the right colours and types of knitting is quite challenging. Whilst it has a similar feel to Calico it is much more involved. We might thin some of the buttons and yarns out for two player games. #boardgames #knittingcircle

Out first play of Knitting Circle was slow as we read the rules as we played. There are a lot of buttons which need flipping before play starts so we found some cloth bags from another game and used those instead. We did enjoy the game and hope to table it again soon. #boardgames #knittingcircle

Today is the last day of our summer break. We decided to try out the new TM board on the Utopia side. Some of the milestones on both sides need Turmoil or Venus Next which we don’t own. However we did enjoy the others goals. A won with a 22 point lead. #boardgames #terraformingmars

We had a a hard fire to fight in Flashpoint:Legacy of Flame. We lost two POIs and injured 2 of the firefighters. We rolled a lot of the same numbers which rapidly escalated the fire. Fun but hard! #boardgames #legacyofflame

A nice afternoon playing 5 player TM Ares Crisis. We lost horribly, it’s super difficult making us wonder if we are getting the rules wrong! We followed this with a game of Quacks of Quedlinburg. A much more relaxed game with lots of fun moments. #boardgames #quacksofquedlingburg

The Fate Of The Fellowship took about two hours to play. Sadly we lost as two havens were taken over just as Frodo was about to destroy the ring. A fun game, very difficult to win and because of its length won’t get to the table often. #boardgames #Fateofthefellowship

An afternoon in the garden playing a few shorter games. Two games of Codenames duet, one of which we won, Archaeology The New Expedition, Faraway, Silver and Gold and an old favourite Mystery Rummy: Jack The Ripper. A great way to spend time on a cool summer afternoon. #boardgames #faraway

After a long weekend we chose a couple of quicker games. A Place For All My Books and Escape:Curse Of The Temple. We managed to escape on our first attempt with a few seconds to go, M then made the game a little harder, the exit was the last tile placed so we failed! #boardgames #escape

Legacy Of Flame. After giving our brave firefighters names we took them to their first fire. We ended with a severely damaged building due to multiple explosions but no one was injured and no victims harmed. #boardgames #flashpointlegacyofflame

Dinosaur Island after dinner. We chose a long game which usually takes an hour but the game seemed to take less time today. A managed to claim two of the four goals quite quickly, M gaining one at the end. Much to their surprise A got a rare victory. #boardgames #dinosaurisland

The turn of Fantastic Factories for solo play. After watching a video on how to play A tried their hand at a game. Unusually for solo play A managed to win mostly by trying to end the game as soon as possible, stopping the Bot from gaining too many cards and goods. #boardgames #fantasticfactories

Another enjoyable play of Creature Caravan. M made it all the way to Easterly whilst A struggled to move. A scored a lot of points from end game scoring on cards and defeating zombies, M gained most of the extra few winning points from travel. #boardgames #creaturecaravan

Too hot outside today so A decided to solo play Finspan. Even on one of the easier levels the Nautama was the winner both plays as they had managed to get over 50 points of schools! Oh well, A will try again another day!

We’ve played Calico this evening. M is a much better player as A has trouble with patterns and shapes. Today was a rare tie. We worked out that A wins about 20% of games. Usually such a disparity would mean a game leaves the collection but this has survived the cull. #boardgames #calico

Yedo. We chose to do 8 rounds in this game after finding 5 too short. We both upgraded all our workers and completed a similar number of missions. We also both ran into the law and had to discard our black mail cards! Scores were very close A winning by 2 points. #boardgames #yedo

Circadians First Light with the specialists. This is a game that we find very tiring but enjoyable. Scores were very close M had a two point victory due to points gained from the harvester at the end of the game. #boardgames #circadiansfirstlight

A big difference in scores in Isle of Cats. It can be difficult to win when one person has significantly more lesson cards, M was luckier with their drawn cards having 10 lessons A only 5. It’s still fun to try and work out how to rescue cats even when defeat is inevitable! #boardgames #isleofcats

We finished our second campaign in Sleeping Gods. We enjoy the story telling and the hunt for the god totems, the fighting not so much. A game that although we like it doesn’t get much table time as each session takes a long time. #boardgames #sleepinggods
