Our first play of Fighting Fantasy Adventures. We just succeeded having fallen for many optional monsters. Short and simple rules helped us start quickly, though at first we didn’t resolve the encounter before the room. It engaged us for the full ninety minutes. #boardgames #fightingfantasy

Creature comforts. We wanted a nice laid back game after a long day. Unusually M didn’t just make food, making a muffler and a lamp as well as soup. The game as always was pretty close, victory just 4 more points. #boardgames #creaturecomforts

A couple of plays of Village Green. This feels quite similar to Castle Combo but with a prettier set of cards (in our opinion). A lost both games as a couple of the scoring cards didn’t result in any points. #boardgames #villagegreen

Our first play of LOTR Fellowship Of The Ring Trick taking game. We managed to succeed in the first 3 chapters. The two player pyramid of cards works very well it was Frodo in our first two games! Looking forward to the rest of the story. #boardgames #LOTRtricktaking

Viticulture with the Bordeaux board at 3 players. We all enjoyed trying out the experts and the other new aspects of the board . Our conclusion was we all preferred it over Tuscany - our friend N would still rather play with the basic board especially at 2. #viticulture #bordeauxexpansion

The Ancient World is a very pretty Red Raven game. The aim is to collect as many banners of different colours as possible. Whilst this seems like a simple aim the game is quite involved and has lots of interesting decisions. M won by defeating a large number of titans. #boardgames #ancientworld

Creature Caravan with the new Wanderers expansion. The new item cards are interesting adding ways to help with scoring and gaining goods and coins. Overall we liked it a lot, we’d happily introduce it to first time players. #boardgames #creaturecaravan

Another few tries of Coffee Roaster. Scoring went from not enough points to register on the sheet to way to cooked and only scoring 4 points. There’s an art to playing well which A has yet to grasp! #boardgames #coffeeroaster

First 3 plays of Friday. It seems very difficult, A crashed out after only 1 cycle through the deck. Maybe they are getting some rules wrong or maybe Robinson Crusoe is at fault! #boardgames #friday

First play of the Americas Wingspan expansion. We enjoyed playing with the hummingbirds who add another way to score and a bit more complexity. The game as a consequence of adding the hummingbirds lasts longer, we might do as the rules suggest and remove a turn cube. #boardgames #wingspan

Arnak with the Tree temple. It was a long slow climb up the tree as it was quite expensive. A abandoned getting another assistant in favour of climbing with the magnifying glass. To our surprise the game ended in a draw. #boardgames #lostruinsofarnak

Our first play of Sky Team. It was great fun we even managed to land the plane! We were at a slight tilt in the penultimate turn but managed to level off in the last round. #boardgames #skyteam

Harmonies this evening. It wasn’t a high scoring game, A scored most of their points from the Spirit card. M managed to get four islands and an impressive mountain range, securing victory. #boardgames #harmonies

The delightful Finspan. In this game we both scored over 55 in fish (card) points and had 6 schools. Neither of us had any end game scoring cards which is unusual. We still enjoy looking at the lovely art and reading the fishy facts. And even better it was a draw! #boardgames #finspan

Cascadia Rolling Hills. This is quite a crunchy roll and write which is enjoyable. We played with sheet c,which is a lot of very small indistinct hexagons. It would have been better if the sheets had been printed on larger sheets of paper. #boardgames #cascadiarollinghills

Verdant. We are unsure if this will stay in our collection. M isn’t keen on the amount of time it takes to play for a fairly simple game. A is happy to let it stay as it’s enjoyable and the theme is calming. The debate begins! #boardgames #Verdant

Knitting. Circle. Whilst A still lost they managed to score more buttons and knit more full garments than in previous games. An enjoyable game with a nice theme. #boardgames #knittingcircle

We were lucky to try Arnak with 4 players. We all thought it would take longer to play and there would be too much competition for spaces. However it was great fun and we’d all be happy to play at 4 again. M won comfortably by getting to the top of the track first. #boardgames #lostruinsofarnak

We seized the day with Carpe Diem. The scoring was hard as a large number of chickens and grapes were required, so we had to compete more than usual for some of the tiles. Unusually we didn’t take many fountain cards. M won by having a large building with lots of chimneys. #boardgames #carpediem

Circadians First Light with a friend this afternoon, our first at 3 players. The game look the same length as with 2 which surprised us. It seemed a bit looser as the 3 side of the boards had more places for the dice. It was enjoyed by all. #boardgames #circadiansfirstlight

We managed to pick up copies of Cascadia Rolling Hills/ Rivers. Today we played Hills for the first time. It was an interesting puzzle with lots of choices to make. We hope to try out some of the harder scenarios soon. #boardgames #cascadiarollinghills

An enjoyable afternoon playing Maple Valley. We find this quite intense as we try to get the most out of each friend and movement. We both crafted an impressive number of items. A won by 9 (97)in a high scoring game. #boardgames #maplevalley

Another evening another ‘span! Today we played the fishy version, we even spotted a card we’ve never seen before. A did much better at end of round goals, M had a lot more points on cards. Overall a very close game, A winning by a single point. #boardgames #finspan

In this game of Wyrmspan A did well at the end of round scoring and gaining extra coins. M had a lot of coins and bottles of milk. A got their engine going much more efficiently and won by 20 points. #boardgames #wyrmspan

Orléans. Unusually A went further along the university track than M. M had a building which collected a large amount of cheese. With a plague and having to get rid of 3 followers we had hardly any people left in our bags by game end! #boardgames #Orléans

Villagers with the season expansion. It’s a little harder to get started with the expansion as the cards in the village are random. A needed to discard to make a build team early in the game. The seasons add cards so a bigger village can be built. #boardgames #villagers

Another new game this week, Ganz Schön Clever (that’s pretty clever). We’ve been enjoying dice chuckers on BGA so thought owning something would be nice. In our first game M won by over 100, A is considering solo play to improve! #boardgames #thatsprettyclever

Today we played Circadians First Light. It’s quite a complex game we find, probably in our entire collection! Today A gained victory by having completed more contracts. A game that deserves to be more widely known. #boardgames #circadiansfirstlight

It felt like a roll and write kind of day so we played There And Back Again, chapter 5. It took quite a while to rescue the dwarves from the treetops, those pesky Wargs! #boardgames #thehobbitthereandbackagain

As we play Knitting Circle more we like it more. The puzzle of trying to collect the correct colours and knitting pattern is interesting and sometimes quite difficult. M is much better at managing to collect multiple buttons per garment, A has yet ro win! #boardgames #knittingcircle

We haven’t played Harmonies much recently. Today we remembered how much we enjoy the puzzle of making nice landscapes. M ended the game by having 2 spaces left but A had managed to complete more cards and scored a lot for a large set of trees. #boardgames #harmonies
