Trump again just implied that the MMR vaccine causes autism. Many studies have shown that there is no relationship between MMR vaccine and the development of autism. This one followed every single child born in Denmark from 1991 through 1998 (n=537,303). There was no association.

Reminder: While autism diagnoses have indeed exploded over the years as we’ve dramatically expanded the parameters for diagnosis and educated professionals on what to look for, rates of Tylenol consumption during pregnancy hasn’t changed. Science doesn’t lie; people do.

There have been claims that NOAA/NWS did not foresee catastrophic TX floods--but that's simply not true. This was undoubtedly an extreme event, but messaging rapidly escalated beginning ~12 hrs prior. Flood Watch mid PM, "heads up" outlook late PM, flash flood warnings ~1am.

Local officials have a knack for blaming the National Weather Service when tragic weather occurs. The NWS did a great job forecasting and warning this event. It’s was to try to spin things to fit a narrative when you don’t understand the forecast/warning process. Yes we need to fund the NWS.

Before starting on the rainbow quilt I shared a couple of days ago, I decided to do some big stitch hand quilting on a different languishing project. I had done machine quilting in the ditch of the strips awhile ago.

I just fought another battle with the vines that seem to keep taking over in the yard. I found a woody vine killer that I hope will help (painted on the just cut stumps). I know some folks love to be out in their yards puttering around but I just don’t enjoy it. Now back to my quilting!

If we stop calling these “grants” and start calling them “contracts,” it’s clearer to people why this is such an abuse of power. This wasn’t a bunch of gifts. This was a bunch of binding contracts between researchers and the US govt for specific agreed upon projects.

Quilt top basting time. I’ve tried basting a few different ways, and table basting is by far my favorite method. This is the Fly Away quilt pattern by Suzy Quilts made with scraps from my stash. I finished the quilt top in 2021, so it’s definitely time to get this finished.
