I used King County Metro’s DART service on Mercer Island for the first time today! It’s really not the best replacement for the old fixed-route buses that served more parts of the island but it is nice to have the option at least, and it’s fun to ride along the waterfront!

Let's talk about how easy driving contributes to the death spiral of declining bus ridership/route frequency, highlighted by @seattletransitblog.com here. KC Metro is fighting back with increased route frequencies, but it's still hard to see where we were pre-pandemic vs now

No one wants urination on pubic transit, this is a ridiculous straw man that lets you very pointedly avoid mentioning a solution, which is because 1) your solution is to spend more transit resources on cops to cycle more people through jail, and 2) you know it will only make things worse.

Route 910 is funded by allocations from SB125. It's a tax-funded service partially subsidized by user fees. No one "mismanaged" it, it isn't "losing money". This is like saying governments lose $1 billion by widening a freeway and not recovering 100% of the costs with tolls.

This machine kills fascists. Every trip you take on public transit, even on diesel buses, reduces oil dependency. Buses are significantly more efficient than cars, and many agencies like King County Metro and TriMet have transitioned to renewable diesel, that doesn't get pumped from wells.

We are beyond disappointed in SDOT's proposals here. Their plan of "exploring future options like dedicated bus lanes once key congestion issues are addressed" is completely nonsensical. You can't just wave a magic wand and get rid of the congestion on Denny. Bus lanes ARE the solution.

Following an entire book of personal finance tips won't save the median american as much as simply moving near some frequent transit lines and selling their car. The problem is that most US urban areas don't have much frequent transit, and in the ones that do, there isn't enough housing nearby.

Bellevue, WA reminds me so much of where I live now (San Diego): car-dependent, small downtown with wide streets, light rail not living up to its potential (yet), chain restaurants, generally hostile to pedestrians and cyclists, and wealthier (and more NIMBY) than nearby large cities.
