🧵Over the past few months, we've extended outreach to the area's commuters and come to an agreement to finally Fix Route 8. Phase 1 will be a $500M viaduct over Denny Way in SLU to take cars off the road Phase 2 will involve rerouting Route 8 to avoid conflicts with cars to speed up the bus.

🚨🚨 Attention Route 8 riders! 🚨🚨 Tomorrow, Light Rail will open between Seattle and Bellevue!! To better serve Judkins Park station, Route 8 will permanently change its route to stay on 23rd Ave! The bus will stop right in front of the station and continue serving MLK way south of Massachusetts St

We signed onto this letter to build a more vibrant and transit oriented city. We need to Fully Fund the Frequent Transit Network, identify hot spots for new bus lanes, and establish minimum standards for ALL bus lines. There’s no excuse for why Route 8 got so slow. It should never happen again.

This bus is supposed to run every 15 minutes.

Looks like progress is being made on the sidewalk although it is still annoying that the bus stop was closed so long before breaking ground on the new island

UPDATE. The @fixthel8.bsky.social crew wrote to Metro explaining this needs a quick fix and an hour later we got word they are updating the IRL and online info to show the correct info. The EB Denny & Steward stop is temporary relocated to east of Stewart through March 1.

We had a great time tonight talking to @seattledot.bsky.social about Bus Lanes on Denny Way! The Mayor’s order mandates a plan by April 17. We’re excited that SDOT is thinking about more than Denny and will keep iterating on solutions in the coming years

👻 Ghost Bus Shelter 👻 The bus shelter at Denny and Stewart is missing…again! After it was destroyed by a driver in Dec ‘23, Metro finally replaced it in Dec ‘25 but just removed it. Luckily, it’s for good reason!
