The structure/format of roguelikes is such that many naturally suit a "healthy" session shape; A. I play a full session in one sitting and if its a long session I feel satisfied regardless of the outcome. B. I have a session with several false starts, e.g 2 or 3 twenty-min runs of Slay the Spire.

I saw a random reddit comment where someone theorized that Pennywise and Mary Poppins were the same species of primordial psychic entity, but Pennywise feeds on fear while Poppins feeds on joy. both of them eat kid emotions because fear and joy are more intense in kids. This is Canon for me now.

For reference: Procedural generation is shuffling a deck and dealing from it. genAI is feeding every card deck you can find, including ones not for the game, into a wood chipper, slapping a handful of the bits on some glue, and pretending its a playable hand.

Been interesting contrasting @roguecommand.net with Homeworld 3's War Games mode. HW3 doesn't fundementally understand how roguelikes are about "breaking" the system, the upgrades being so anemic in impact. Despite RC's lack of objective variety, visual noise & length, its the better experience.

Was delightful playing @wynningstudios.bsky.social 's Ribb-Eats at the local meetup earlier this week. Who knew 4 frogs driving a car could be so fancy, my whole team ended up in top hats and monocles.
