GDDS are a thinking tool - practically useless outside of communicating thoughts from one mind to another (or recording them from present mind for the same mind in the future). If you think a GPT has a place in writing them then you never understood what they were for in the first place.

I think what folks fundamentally don't get about creative labour is that the labour part of it feeds the creativity part of it.

What historians (and other scholars do) is create knowledge. We should use that phrase more and talk about what it means. I think we don't, and it's part of why AI enthusiasts are confused when we don't readily agree that our work can be replicated/replaced by their products.

I recently did some work for a team which was two programmers, a project manager and the company CEO (all very pro AI) and the absence of an persistent artist was such a loss, for reasons which go waaay beyond the hard skills of making the art. Just no consistent sense of taste or style.

The KCD2 bitching about not getting best RPG is silly. Your commitment to a realistic non magical setting means all the gear and skills plateau half way through the game. That game has great writing but it’s basically a life sim.
