N95s can prevent more than just Covid! They stop colds, flus and other airborne illness. They’re also highly effective against pollen, pollution, wildfire smoke and environmental triggers. Many maskers haven’t been sick in years. Respirators are pretty amazing.

At least 3,000 people who have been detained in Chicago ICE raids are missing from official DHS records. We still don’t know what happened to the 1200 people who went missing from the Everglades facility. They’re disappearing people. No due process. No accountability.

If you are still unsure of what to wear tomorrow, first: ask yourself what you want to be on Halloween, second: remind yourself you don’t want to be sick come November, and so third: assure yourself that a mask compliments any costume.

As a disability advocate, I think it’s appalling how many people are fine letting disabled folks starve because they think “survival of the fittest” means we should die. But here’s the thing… no one should be starving. The richest country in the world can afford to feed everyone.

Surprising (and refreshing!) to see this messaging from a University! Western University in London, Ontario is urging students to mask up if they’re unwell and show compassion to those who do mask. We need more of this. Covid is still here and a good respirator is an excellent preventative tool!

Masking in public isn’t a “personal risk” decision. It’s a “risking people” decision. An n95 isn’t like a seatbelt you can refuse if you think accident rates are low & you’d survive. Rejecting public masking is like drunk driving on shared roads while hospital access is expensive & inequitable.

I keep seeing long threads where people do complex math to justify unmasking, calculating their own risk of illness 🧮 But almost never, "Hey what's the risk to the person beside me at the pharmacy?" We’ve individualized public health to death

No one should face financial ruin because they got sick or needed medical care. Healthcare is a basic human right. These premium increases will ruin people. It will put people on the streets. It will end lives. It will cause more disability.

somethin that always tickles me, as someone who’s been advocating for clean air in the ways i’ve heard desired—from mutual aid to municipal meetings (screenshots from a few of those below)—for years now, is that the only folks who show up to advocate for systemic change are also the ones masked up.

Most of us who are covid conscious understand that widespread masking is not returning. But masking in healthcare facilities should be an easy ask. Getting folks to mask when they’re sick should be an easy ask. Cleaning the air should be an easy ask. It’s time we adapt!

Covid is not over. People are still dying and becoming disabled every day. We rushed “back to normal” for the economy, not because the threat had passed. When you wear a mask, you’re not only protecting your health, you’re saying you don’t believe anyone is expendable.

and even if it's not (masking def isnt always easy for me), i think most who understand what it takes to achieve major societal change can say that very few of these actions are "easy" nor comfortable, if not outright stigmatized or dangerous, before they were seen as essential by future historians.
