It's abundantly clear that a lot of Department of Homeland Security agents take great pleasure in inflicting violence on other people.

Crazy how much some media has normalized the idea that voters are taking a risk if they elect governors/mayors who will defy Trump. That he’ll threaten their funding, etc. Try to imagine, say. Greg Abbott being asked if he’s worried that Biden will punish Texas over his lawsuits.

Spotted a real National Guard patrol in Dupont Circle (left) this morning … then an individual in ill-fitting fatigues and gear (right) shortly thereafter. Is this an actual guardsman? Did not appear to be a Halloween costume. It’s increasingly difficult to tell who’s legit, which seems dangerous.

All of this is true enough as far as it goes. But even more problematic is the fact that when the U.S. Coast Guard interdicts suspect vessels, boarding and searching for drugs, a quarter of the time they find no contraband. We're not just murdering drug smugglers. We are murdering innocent people.

Under Trump’s postmasters general, USPS has been quietly reducing pickups across the country, leading to 1 to 3 day delays. Mail-in voters don’t know this, putting millions at risk of accidental disenfranchisement. Rural voters will be affected more, meaning Trump voters face the most risk.

It seems quite perverse for the Speaker to have the power to prevent Reps from being seated. If a Speaker were elected 217-216 in a House with two vacancies and after special elections the Speaker would be removed 217-218, can the Speaker stay on simply by preventing the new Reps from being seated?

No Kings protests were one of the few times Trump, MAGA, and right-wing media were reacting to something the opposition did, rather than the opposition reacting to whatever they do. Adopt a principle from war strategy: generally better to be taking action and forcing opponents to react. Good point.
