It’s a power imbalance. I’ve had urban design staff. Tell me that they’re going to hold up approval until I put a canopy on a building. No rules, no code or bylaw requirement. They just want it. Project sat for over a year until we gave in bc we had no choice. Over $1m construction cost and delays

J'avais l'habitude d'aller flâner sans but, avant de déménager à Ottawa. J'ai quasiment arrêté. À quoi bon? Les bâtiments sont globalement moches, il y a beaucoup trop de terrains utilisés comme stationnement, les commerçants ne savent pas faire de vitrines attirantes, les parcs sont mal entretenus

To be fair, yes, Carney is gutting a bit of the Canadian government at exactly the wrong time. Yes, we have to spend more on defence, but cutting capacity in the rest of govt in the hopes AI produces savings is just not that smart.

The root cause of the LRT problems is not axles, or track or trains. The root cause was the procurement system, leadership failure from political and city staff as well lack of transparency and accountability. I see the axle hubs or loose bearings more of a symptom.
