11 people in Australia were killed today by gunmen while they celebrated the first night of Chanukah at Sydney’s Bondi Beach. Targeted because they were Jews. As Jewish families around the world, we place our menorahs in our windows. Our message to the world: Light will outlive the darkness.

Ahmed al Ahmed, a Lebanese Muslim who owns a Sydney fruit shop, risked his life to disarm one of the Bondi Beach shooters. His courage gives me hope amidst the horror and darkness. Muslims and Jews are not enemies. Our futures, in the Middle East and beyond, are intrinsically bound. A true hero.

Heartbreaking and horrifying to go to bed reading about the mass shooting at Brown University and wake up to read about the mass shooting at a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach. Thinking of the victims, their loved ones, and those affected by the hate that drove these attacks.

I think it’s also true that loneliness among women has historically been treated as an individual problem, while loneliness among men is treated as a societal problem. That, in turn, comes from an assumption that women are supposed to earn the company of others while men are entitled to it.

Honestly I did not care for the woman of tomorrow (or king usually) but the trailer has me looking forward to Supergirl (if it can not feel like a repeat of Guardians)!
