i really want us, collectively, to understand that chat format LLMs cannot assess their own behavior. if you ask it what it did, it will construct a likely response to your query and that is all. "why did you do this" is projection. even accusing them of "lying" is projection.

In other words, LLMs don't learn facts and store them for later. Where we learn that the sky is often blue, the LLM learns how to form a sentence about skies and their colors. Where we learn how to spell "apple", LLMs learn generally how to sound like a professional who is explaining something.

i keep seeing people tricked into the idea that LLMs like chat gpt ”knows” things or has values or any kind of agency, even ”anti-ai” folks. all the tech is this, statistical average (with weighting):

haha this rules. folks don't know that AIs scraping websites accounts for like half of all internet bandwidth usage right now. Sites get scraped- ie, all the contents downloaded- over and over again, destroying/wasting their bandwidth, often maxing it out. It's like being continually DDOS'd

This is pretty incredible. A guided tour of 20 years of "control panel" displays, all actually interactive running via emulation in browser. There are even little achievements and easter eggs in each section! Lovely UI design resource.

I saw an early build of this like two years ago and was immediately charmed; really recommend wishlisting if you’re a fan of city builders, simulation, or thinky games

I'm not kidding, this is one of the top 10 metroidvanias I've ever played. I also love that it branches a bit off of a "pure metroidvania", becoming sometimes a pure platformer or adopting elements of random generation. It's also the perfect length. (Took me 11h to beat, 15h to 100%.)
