A government shutdown just isn't that big of a macroeconomic event. But it's still a costly charade, an infuriating waste, and a pointless spectacle. Workers stay home, services stall, and in the end we pay them anyway. A masterclass in Washington dysfunction.

Remember: Undocumented immigrants pay billions of dollars in taxes every year. They pay into government funded healthcare programs, but can't access them except in case of emergency. Emergency Medicaid spending accounted for less than 1% of total Medicaid spending in 2023.

Seems that the Republicans are trying to say that the Democrats want to give healthcare to illegal immigrants. Of course, this isn’t true. But better yet, since the Trump Administration is deporting these poor people, why would it even matter?🔄

Naturally Trump’s mouth gift wraps a perfect lawsuit for every government worker he fires after he makes it clear he is doing it solely for politics and is specifically targeting civil servants who are registered Democrats. He basically wrote their lawsuit for them today.

No amount of fear-mongering can deflect from the truth: Republican policies will result in 15 million Americans losing their health care and millions more seeing their premiums skyrocket.

That is just plainly not true. Your budget slashed help for people who buy Affordable Care Act plans. That's 22 million Americans whose premiums are going up - RIGHT NOW - by double digits directly because of a policy you passed.

America First. Really? Trump says we have to throw 15 million Americans off healthcare and significantly raise ACA premiums because we don’t have enough money. But somehow we have $20 billion to bailout the right-wing regime of Argentina? We can’t let that happen.
