New Illustration: "We Beat 'Em Before..." Taken from a British WW2 poster, the original features a WW1 German soldier at the top. I just swapped it for the Nazi soldier it had at the bottom.

I had to watch Alabama's ban on gender affirming care for minors go into effect. It impacted multiple people in my life. It is cruel beyond words. Pick up the phone. Call all of your reps. Don't tell me it won't matter--I call Tommy Tuberville. EVERY FUCKIN' TIME. I won't gift them silence on this.

If you tell cis people they have their own methods of afirming their gender, they get mad enough to swallow you whole like an anaconda. As far as I am concerned, cis people work exactly as hard, if not moreso, than we do at this task.

This was the time when i was deepest into the magazines and this is exactly right. Another element worth mentioning is PC gaming having its first mainstream boom with Wing Commander/Doom/Myst/The 7th Guest; the technology there made the 16-bit systems look old much sooner than the NES did!

I have absolutely zero sympathy for studios intentionally conflating useful tools with LLMs in order to launder the image of LLMs then being surprised those legitimate automation tools are now a PR liability. If you are calling inverse kinematics AI you can't be surprised when people get mad at that

Techbros seem to love Tolkien, so here's an analogy to help you understand what genAI is. GenAI is The One Ring. You think your use is justified, b/c you don't have evil in your heart. But it came from evil, it is intended for evil purpose, & anything you do with it will be twisted to that end.

As a non-artist, I completely cobble image search results into my power points using MS paint. I have nearly used AI because at the time I was doing a certain gig, image search engines didn't let me block AI results. Pintrest and DuckDuckGo now have that. They're not perfect but better than nothing.

Concept artists are perhaps the most curious individuals in our craft. They study a bit about everything, the inner workings of our world, and use that knowledge to give life and meaning to previously unorganized ideas. You cannot replace them with AI and pretend the final project is original.

People must keep in mind that these laws still have to pass intermediate constitutional scrutiny. Just because the Supreme Court upheld Texas’s law in Paxton, it doesn’t mean states are given carte blanche to pass whatever laws they like. It still has to relate to a compelling governmental interest.
