Thanks to the Canadian Aviation Historical Society for sharing Rebecca Hartley’s great article - 'Telling the Stories of Airwomen in the "Forgotten Decade": 1952-62' Although the timeframe is slightly later than my focus, it was still a fascinating insight into women pilots.

If you have the prerequisite knowledge to know that something is correct, you don't need the machine, and if you do not, it can never help you because you can't check it. That's the problem.
