There isn't a boardgames wrapped but MAGICAL ATHLETE is easily my favourite of 2025 - I've played loads of times and it never stops being funny and interesting. I love introducing people to it. Huge recommendation! (not sure you can get it everywhere yet soz)

I have often bemoaned the dryness of many modern games. Somebody on the web wrote "boardgames are just math made fun", and I answered that many boardgames are math made not fun. In such games, scores are no longer a reward for good play, but the entire games just consist of calculations. (1/X)

I'm late to the party on "No Thanks" Just picked up the re-release by @cmyk.games First simple card game I've played that had at least 4 "Oh wait, I'm doing this wrong!" moments. Not in terms of rules, but in strategies.

I love how the components for @cmyk.games’ Magical Atheletes are stored in paper bags instead of plastic. Not a single throwaway or even reused piece of plastic inside the box! Other game publishers, please imitate!

There are only so many times you get to use the term "cult classic" with regards to board games but it's appropriate for Magical Athlete. It's a lighter game, but the appeal here is similar to Cosmic Encounter -- just a pure celebration of modular rules bouncing around & colliding with each other.

I was fortunate to playtest this new edition of my favorite game, and I'm happy to report that it is, somehow, even better now Magical Athlete is pure joy, the game that has given us the most laughs of any box out there. Nearly terminal levels of whimsy. Perfect.

I'm very envious that @cmyk.games has brought back Magical Athlete (gosh I wanted to). Games like this (and, quite frankly, Thunder Road: Vendetta) showcase that "roll and move" isn't inherently a bad thing. I also love the retro vibe illustration approach. I can't wait to try this new edition.

Wilmot’s Warehouse: they dang put my man Wilmot in a board game! Captured the spirit of the original perfectly. We won in 2:30 or so, which wasn’t bad? Our mnemonic was a dog nurse eating cheese seeds on a volcano planet.

This is hands down my favorite race/betting/party game. I've played it a handful of times at different events over the last few months and every one has been a blast. It a perfect depiction of mascot races down to the human eyes inside the costumes.

I played this at PAXU and it’s an absolute blast. If you host large game nights that can get a little silly, this is an instant buy. Even the packaging is genius: the board rolls out of the box like a venetian blind. I didn’t know anything else about the game but when I saw that I had to have it.
