When I visit Essen next month, what’s the preferred way of paying for stuff? Card? Phone? If the latter, which app/tech?

THIS is why my MS Team status is almost always set to busy. I liked the major point to the book, "Deep Work." Deep thinking is very hard to accomplish because our work cultures and tools value quick responses over the complex thinking that some tasks require. I just wish it was better written.

Sadly, the quality of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 seems to mirror Star Trek: The Original Series season 3. That's not good. Hoping they learn from the poor season and rebuild. FWIW, episode 9 was probably okay for anyone who never saw "Enemy Mine" or any of the 5 ST episodes like it.

While on my art book binge, I searched for collections of Masamune Shirow’s work. You know him from the manga “Ghost in the Shell” or perhaps “Appleseed”. I’m obsessed with his illustrations of future tech. Sadly, his collections seem more focused on his, ahem… “figurative” illustrations.

I just ordered a photo scanner. It can process a stack of 60 photos in 2 minutes. My family fell in that transition phase in which our older kids’ photos are mostly physical and our younger kids are mostly digital. Tired of the hassle. It’ll also be nice to archive my mom’s boxes of photos.

Starship Captains is the first that comes to mind, not a deck builder, but worker placement. VERY Trek. And yes, I’m going to say Gravwell 2nd Edition. Its core mechanism is based on Star Trek’s tractor beams. You’ll see other similarities when playing. Much lighter game.

I still enjoy euchre, despite some of its flaws. Hands like the one shown. One of my goals with “3 Witches” was to reduce like likelihood of garbage hands. The 3-player-only game pits 1 player against 2. A hand not suited for a lone player will always pair better with a partner.
