Betty Reid Soskin, who served as the country's oldest National Park Service ranger, has died at the age of 104. Soskin’s family announced her death on Facebook, saying she died peacefully at her home in Richmond, California. “She led a fully packed life and was ready to leave," the statement read.

One of my favorite #BoardGame prototype art stories is when I got to try an early edition of Edge of Darkness by John D. Clair. The card art was... spirited but looked amateurish. But it was distinct, had charm, and was fun. Turns out, they used John's childhood drawings for the proto. Lovely.💙

I was going to hold myself to a 360 cube… but this set is so fun I ended up building a couple of EDH decks too. (They may suck but it was fun making them by leaning into the storylines of the show.) 30+ years of playing Magic and opening packs and putting together decks is still fun!

There is hope for the future

I seriously love the Paper Apps games. I've played them all. Galaxy was my companion on my PAX Unplugged flight a week ago. Portable and easy to play on the go (I just use a dice app on my phone) each book is unique (some schmancy algorithm he made). They're quite clever and fun.

Welp, bless them. It’s definitely a card stock and/or factory difference. Cards have subtle color differences… but the card finish can definitely be felt. The bundle card (top) has a rougher feel than the booster sourced card. And I THINK (it’s subtle) it feels stiffer to a bend test too.

Because I’m a dork I find stuff like this interesting… Tokens and land cards from the new Avatar Magic the Gathering set… some from a “bundle” and the others from a booster box. I wonder if the difference is… factory? Cardstock (they feel the same)?
