While I don't fly often, I did three flights recently, didn't have pre check, and security was ... fine. The bigger problem was the horrific gouging and quality of airport food.

This is a genuine problem in state law. We have a no net loss law, that bans housing developments from reducing the number of home. But it doesn't apply to single family homes, demolitions without additions, offices, retail, etc. It should ban any reduction in housing.

The Portland row-houses are a good example of what major gains in zoning reform produce without building code reform. It’s simultaneously a win for affordable urban housing and an indictment of our ability to produce multifamily housing comparable in quality and features to more urban countries.

San Francisco's new demolition rules seem almost like they are daring the state to dissolve the city, but in particular how can the rent control increment be legal? The rest of these are just misguided and dumb, but that one looks obviously contrary to state law.

The DMV should not stay the order to suspend manufacturing for 30 days unless Tesla ceases all false advertising. And the suspension should be permanent until the same.

People very much DO choose to buy homes in fire prone areas. They should have to pay the financial cost of insuring those homes against fire. Forcing people who live in South LA to pay higher home insurance premiums to subsidize mansion owners in Malibu and the Hollywood Hills is deeply regressive.

Simply getting the state to socialize all that risk is not an alternative to substantially reducing the risk. If you do the former without the latter, you're basically hamstringing the state and penalizing low-income Californians who live outside the WUI.

As I never tire of reminding people, the two plausible alternatives to automated traffic enforcement are that we either rely on the discretion of individual police officers or we simply don't enforce traffic laws at all. We have been trying both alternatives now and they are failing us.
