eight years as a statistical consultant and ecologists still manage to collect weird data that I'm not immediately sure what to do with (it's fun though!)

My first {targets} project is mostly one massive script, converted into a pipeline mid-project so that some key outputs are not generated by the makefile. I can't wait until this project is over so that I can apply what I've learned and write a proper, modular, almost fully reproducible pipeline.

OK so I finished my review an oof, it took a long time. Feeling a bit down, I'm not sure if I was able to give the authors many helpful suggestions beyond "please think about this a bit more carefully". Hopefully at least the editor appreciates the work I put into it.

After a long pause, I'm peer reviewing an article again, this time for a society journal. This is honestly one of my favorite parts of this job. Reading about colleagues' cool research and getting a chance to contribute in it is a joy.

Hey #rstats and especially {targets} peeps! What are some good ways to modularise long _targets.R files? I'm generating all figures for a book in one script and it's getting a bit unwieldy. I'm thinking of breaking the script into shorter subscripts by e.g. chapter to make it more readable.

Just after I've tickled my base graphics memories, ggplot2 4 comes out. There are so many cool new things documented in this post that I'm going to immediately adopt into my workflows.
