The fact that Mamdani just seems like a cheerful normal guy who's policies are things like "we're going to tax second homes to fund pothole repairs" or whatever and yet this generates panicked responses like "This is basically Stalin's great purge turned up to eleven" is... telling. It tells things.

As a therapist, the unspoken thing I think of whenever I see an article about ICE detainees is the amount of trauma that will last long after they are released or deported. Whatever accountability happens after this fascist regime needs to include mental health care reparations for its' victims.

RIP to the weirdest and queerest college to ever do it. The Hampshire Queer Conference was instrumental in helping me build trans community back in the day. An incalculable loss for liberal arts education

A huge loss, a bad sign. Plus the elimination of Hampshire College means an end to one of the best things about Hampshire: getting to take classes there on UMass tuition. (I did, all the sweeter for having been accepted to but not being able to afford Hampshire.) RIP “the Five Colleges.”

NEW: The FBI was able to forensically extract copies of incoming Signal messages from a defendant’s iPhone, even after the app was deleted, because copies of the content were saved in the device’s push notification database, multiple people present for FBI testimony in a trial told 404 Media.

The case was the first time authorities charged people for alleged “Antifa” activities after President Trump designated the umbrella term a terrorist organization.

Detransition is often used as a cudgel against the transgender community, but most people who detransition actually remain trans supportive. Today on Assigned,
@madisyn-writes.bsky.social
spoke with three detransitioners who support trans people.

Between the conversion therapy ruling and the efforts to ban kids from the internet to “protect them” from “transgender influence,” we’re right back in a culture of violently enforced closeting. And the data around self-identifying as trans and queer already reflects this

If therapists are not subject to any sort of viewpoint discriminatory regulation by the state, then states cannot ban or regulate them from telling minor clients to drink bleach or kill themselves because that would be viewpoint discriminatory.
