I feel like Spyro 2 and 3 are great case studies for how to make fun water levels. The lack of an arbitrary air meter and playing with the additional axis of movement you get while submerged has always made these sections a joy. Aquaria Towers and Seashell Shore especially are gems in that regard.

I've had some bad experiences with "fandom" and become skeptical of it to some degree. But it's also brought me some of my best friends and happiest moments. At the end of the day, it's just one form of human community and creativity, with all the good and bad that comes along with it.
