Another problem with the LEO is it does not properly account for graduate entrepreneurship and business ownership where earnings not only lag but may not be included.

Gave my first two lectures of the new academic year. Same lecture repeated twice as the module is so big - up to 800 students! It’s the first lecture our brand new Business Management students will have at University and I put so much into it to set the scene. Went well. Got applause. Very happy.

What's particularly good here is the amount of context this piece gives, explaining why it isn't *just* a particular word/phrase. What's difficult is how hard it is for people to maintain and practice this level of context, and the consequences of the constant need to try and recognise GenAI at all.

Meanwhile today, absolutely appalling figures on sexual harassment in UK Higher Education, including the nauseating finding that fully ONE PERCENT of all students have been in an "intimate relationship" with a staff member involved in their assessment, IN THE LAST YEAR ALONE.

Love this blog as a fellow WebCT pioneer. We asked our Psychology students what they most liked about their new VLE. Many said forums even though there were very few posts. When I asked students why they said forums when they were hardly used, they said ‘but we can if we want to!’

In better news, it is the start of the move in period for our university students, and people are everywhere! Campus is so much better when the students are here.

The last REF found that 98% of UK research was either "internationally recognised", "internationally excellent", or "world-leading". If you think low-quality research is the noteworthy challenge in UK higher ed right now, you are wilfully looking in the wrong direction
