The GMC has been able to spend unlimited funds on its own lawyers thanks to the metaphorical blank cheque handed to it. We don’t have that luxury and it’s important we are able to pay our lawyers for their hard work.

We would not want to think the College had had the wool pulled over its head by nuances of wording, so we would welcome clarification from the RCP as to the exact terminology that was used in the answer given to Professor Kar’s question.

Did Mr Massey tell the RCP that the GMC would "accept" College scope for PAs, or "utilise" it? A commitment to “utilise” rather than “adopt” would mean GMC having regard to, but not consider itself bound to or committed to enforce, such guidance.

Hi
@assocanaes.bsky.social
when did this happen please? When did we start admitting AAs to an association of anaesthetists? Were the membership balloted before this change? Does

I’m worried sick about patient safety as highly trained clinicians are replaced by 2yr-trained associates. Does this make me a “social media rabble”? Or is the “be kind” movement being cynically weaponised? Those monitoring my posts, put this on the agenda for the meeting you’ve asked me to attend.

A victory for patient safety: our case against the GMC over their failure to properly regulate Associates is now heading straight to the High Court! The Court ruled it raises serious issues of importance for patients & professionals, and he granted permission and expedition.

⚠️ Bleomycin & anaesthesia⚠️ Do you know what precautions are required in patients who have been exposed to bleomycin? Exposure to high FiO2 at any time post-bleomycin exposure may trigger life-threatening pneumonitis.

The average age of death for homeless people in the UK is 47 for men and 43 for women, compared to 79.5 for men and 83.1 for women in the general population. Makes you proud to be British, eh? If like me you don't find this acceptable, consider donating to Shelter UK.

I loved Bill Bailey’s response to Alanis Morrisette’s song Ironic. It’s not ironic. It’s just bad luck. The only way rain on your wedding day is ironic is if your fiancé is a weatherman and he chose the day. Superb.

It was all food but Some medical leaders have accepted “compromises”, charitably under duress, to keep the NHS lights on The latter is solely the job of @NHSEngland & @DHSCgovuk, not clinicians Unless we realise this collectively, nationalised healthcare is over for professionals & patients in 🇬🇧

For Canadians, once you're in the hospital, the province takes care of the bill. No one in Canada has ever declared bankruptcy because of hospital bills. America is, in fact, alone in this regard.
