TW: DV Please consider what it means that a man can grab a woman by the shoulders hard enough to hurt her, to leave marks, drag her out of a car, twist her arm behind her back, and lock her in a room, then later she will take pains to clarify that he didn’t *break* her arm.

Christ, you're the governor of the entire state. Shut the building down. It's not sovereign territory like a foreign embassy. Pull the certificate of occupancy. Cut the power. Back it up with state police. Stop coddling fascists and groveling every time they order you around. Act like an American.

You've heard of the Ship of Theseus...the wooden planks of the ship rot and are replaced one by one with new timber until none of the original ship remains? Well, meet the Garden Tiller of Theseus. But will the new carburetor fire!?

the fact is these democratic governors do not have actual control over their own state police forces, and that’s a seriously scary problem that no elected wants to talk about or deal with

My FIL at my son’s preschool graduation when they started singing the national anthem: “I better not see any of them kneeling!!” The hate in their hearts colors every experience. Can’t even watch his grandson sing a song without getting mad about something that isn’t even happening.

's wonderful book reminiscing on the World Cup over the years. So many parallels between Roger and Me: watching from the east side of the Atlantic as a boy, arriving in Chicago in '94, even smashing a soccer ball through our living room windows!

The whole AI-to-make-graduation- efficient is bizarre. The most efficient way to award diplomas is by mail; there’s no logical need for ceremonies. The whole reason they exist is for the human touch & so people can celebrate each other. AI for “efficiency” here is nonsensical (& doesn’t even work🫠)

As I told a reporter last week, nearly all convocation brouhahas boil down to a single issue: Students, even normie non-radical students, rightly understand graduation as a day that is for them, and about them, and which belongs to them. You fuck with that at your peril.

‘Got!’: Panini 1970 World Cup sticker book completed after 56 years
Fan buys missing Chile sticker for £150 after finding almost completed album in his loft This week, Stephen Butler completed a collection that he started almost 60 years ago. With the final piece in place, it’s now worth thousands of pounds, but he has no interest in selling it. Butler was moving house five years ago when he stumbled across a box in the loft that he had not thought about in years. Inside was his old school cap, some exercise books, photos and, in the middle of it all, a 1970 Panini World Cup sticker book. Continue reading...
