I saw a something recently that said members of fandoms no longer exist as fans but believe they are stakeholders. They believe that their opinions and feelings have weight and influence. So they engage performances like they’re directing or a part of the production. It’s wild.

If you ever see something and think “this perfectly and cleanly reinforces a prior belief that I already held” then you should be very skeptical of the validity of the thing you saw and equally skeptical of your interpretation of it.

The thing I don’t get about FOMO is that people often make it out to be some really awful distressing experience that’s forced upon us, but I’m looking at Vegas and feeling a bit sad that I can’t be there but under no circumstances do I want to ever pay to go to Vegas in the future.

I was having this discussion with my mother over the weekend. I think we have for so long ascribed to the idea that you should not have hate in your heart that we have forgotten that it is essential to hate what is evil. I am filled with hatred when I think of the slave trade and the holocaust.
